A message from Jef Timms, designer and owner of Hephaestus Jewelry Gallery…
As a child, I apprenticed for a master gold-smith and talented artist in New Jersey for 12 years. During my youth I was fascinated by collecting stones and gems. This passion has led me in my career for the past 31 years.
The earth has given us a bounty of beautiful precious gemstones and metals to cut and forge. I use these elements to create uniquely inspired designs which last a life time.
Today my business is primarily focused on producing one-of-a-kind designs for the gallery as well as custom works to meet my client’s needs. The jewelry is created in a studio which is filled with highly skilled technicians from the jewelry industry. These jewelry artists are responsible for bringing my design concepts to the completed piece of art.
A myriad of design style, stone type and various other components that come together in style and sophistication are available in all price ranges to fit everyone’s taste and budget at Hephaestus.
We are located in the historic La Plaza district next to Tyler’s world famous restaurant and across from the soon to open Hard Rock Hotel. We are current members of: HRC Federal Club, EQCA Capitol Club, Desert Business Association, California Jewelers Association and Jewelers Board of Trade.
What’s In the Name?
Hephaestus (pronounced huh-fes’-tus) is the Greek god of fire and patron of all craftsmen, particularly those working with metals. Many legends exist how he fell from Olympus but all concur that when he landed on the island of Lemnos, he learned the ways of working iron, copper, gold, silver, using a volcano as his forge, forging amazing items like thunderbolts and a scepter for Zeus and arrow for Eros, the god of love. He became the stuff of myths and legends.
